Precor Australia announces new Business Manager and sales team expansion

Following two years of unprecedented success in the Australian market, Precor has announced a new Business Manager who will head up Australian operations, with current Business Director, Andy Pickett due to return home to the UK following his two year secondment.

Peter Dugmore, previously Regional Sales Manager and member of Precor’s sales team for five years, has been promoted to Business Manager.

Commenting that Dugmore’s promotion from within the business is testament to his many successes as Regional Sales Manager as well as the strength of the Precor business in Australia, Amer Sports Australia Country Manager Adam Joyce stated “we are delighted to be able to further Peter’s career by moving him into a Business Manager role.

“He has been an instrumental part of the Precor team in Australia since day one, and has been responsible for some outstanding work in establishing and nurturing our key customer relationships.

“He has big shoes to fill with Andy heading back to the UK, however with two years spent working with Andy, I am confident he will continue to steer the business on the successful course it is currently on.”

Pickett relocated to Australia in 2012 to move the Precor business away from a distributor model and integrate it into the Amer Sports Australia business. In undertaking this role, Pickett was tasked with establishing all facets of the business – sales, marketing, operations, logistics and finance.

Reflecting on Pickett’s success, Joyce added “to say Andy’s time in Australia has been a success is an understatement – he has, with the help of the team he has built, grown the Precor business seven-fold in just two years. He is handing over a business that has exceeded expectations in all areas, and should be extremely proud of his achievements.

“We would like to thank him for his passion, professionalism, focus, leadership and commitment to getting results, and wish him well on a well-earned sabbatical tour of Australia with his family before he returns to the UK in December.”

Precor will also add two new consultants to its sales team over the coming months, with Jamie Sciberras already on board in Victoria to look after Tasmania and Eastern Victoria. Sciberras has had five years’ experience in the commercial fitness equipment market, in addition to ownership and management of a small business.

The team will be further strengthened in the NSW sales territory with the addition of Jared Goode joining the team in late July.

Dugmore said he is excited about the challenges that lie ahead, explaining “I’m thrilled to be taking on this new role, and to have been able to learn so much from Andy has been anabsolute privilege.

“There is still much for me to learn but I am lucky to have a fantastic team and our two new

Sales Consultants are proof of the growth and successes that Precor has experienced under Andy’s leadership, which I hope to continue.”

Dugmore has spent his entire working life in the fitness industry, including roles in health club management, personal training, and playing elite level representative cricket and AFL. He has also worked as a male model.

He holds tertiary qualifications in fitness and a Masters of Commerce from the University of Sydney.

Reflecting on leaving a great team but pleased with what it has achieved in such a short time, Andy Pickett concluded “when I arrived in Australia there was much to be done – there were only three team members and one of them was me!

“However, through collective hard work and the growth of a solid, professional team, we have together achieved more than I expected we would.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time here, and feel I am returning to the UK with much professional and personal growth that will assist me in my next role, whatever it might be. I wish the team here all the very best and under Peter’s leadership I know they will continue to achieve great results.”
