Precor Opens New Manufacturing Plant

Fitness equipment specialists Precor have opened a new manufacturing plant in Guilford County, North Carolina, USA.

The new plant, replaces a smaller facility in California and represents an investment of more than US $26 million. It will manufacture commercial strength equipment, including all the newest Precor single station C-Line machines as well as Icarian plate-loaded, functional and multi-station machines.

At more than 21,000 metre2, the building provides a significant increase in capacity for Precor, more than doubling its current strength manufacturing plant.

In the last few years, Precor's strength business has been growing steadily. The manufacturer outgrew its California facility and needed more production capacity. North Carolina offered a strong manufacturing talent pool, a good geographic balance to its main facility near Seattle, and reasonable construction costs. Building from the ground up also allowed Precor to design the factory to take advantage of years of learning how to build fitness equipment.

Precor President Paul Byrne explained "we're excited about the capability this new facility gives us," said Paul Byrne, Precor President. "The commercial strength market is growing and our new plant will be a key to serving increasing customer demand. We want to thank our partners in North Carolina who were instrumental in making this vision a reality."
