Perth's Optus Stadium to host further State of Origin fixtures in 2025 and 2028
The Western Australia Government has announced that Perth's Optus Stadium will host further NRL State of Origin series games in 2025 and 2028.
With Perth's hosting of State of Origin in 2022 selling out the 60,000 capacity Optus Stadium, the the new State of Origin deal follows on from the hugely successful NRL Double Header on Saturday. Around 45,000 fans packed into the stadium to watch the Dolphins take on the Knights before the Rabbitohs faced-off with the Sharks on 5th August.
Anticipating that hosting State of Origin will deliver thousands of visitors to Perth while injecting millions of dollars into the local economy, Western Australian Premier, Roger Cook advised "WA hosted a sellout event last year when we hosted the State of Origin here.
"It's a great get to secure a pipeline of events with the additional two games.
"These major sporting events are significant economic drivers for our state, bringing people from all over to WA - which means more people in our hotels, pubs, bars, restaurants, cafes and other tourism and hospitality businesses."
The date for the matches and further details surrounding which games will be held in Perth are to be announced at a later stage.
