New koala play tower installed at City of Logan’s Alexander Clark Park

An almost five-metre high koala play tower has been installed as the centrepiece of a $6.34 million upgrade currently underway in one of the City of Logan’s most popular parks - Loganholme’s Alexander Clark Park.

The feature was moved into position in the Dewar Dr park on 3rd August as work continues on the first two stages of the upgrade.

The main playground is getting a range of new play equipment and facilities, including water play equipment, flying fox, slides, swings, children’s bike track, park shelters, shade sails, park furniture and sensory garden.

The works, which include Division 10 Local Infrastructure Program funding, are expected to be completed in late November 2023, subject to suitable weather and construction conditions.

City of Logan Lifestyle Chair Councillor Tony Hall said it was great to see the project underway and shared “I’m sure park users and local residents are enjoying seeing the construction of the  new elements and looking forward to it being completed.”

Fellow Logan City Councillor Miriam Stemp recently helped to turn the sod on the project and was on hand to witness the koala tower taking shape.

Stemp enthused “It is exciting to see this key piece of equipment now in place. This custom-designed koala will be watching over the main playground and will be a focal point of Alexander Clark Park for many years to come.”

Stage 3, which includes a new park entrance, additional parking and new boardwalks, is expected to be completed in 2024 with two more stages to follow on a timeline yet to be finalised.

Other works will include an active sports area with basketball and volleyball courts, handball court, a multi-purpose open space, additional parking, a new toilet block and upgrades to existing walking tracks.
