Nature Play Queensland launches summer-themed activities

Nature Play Queensland has launched a range of new summer-themed activity playlists for the school holidays.

The additional Nature Play initiatives aim to encourage children and families to get outside and explore the abundant natural spaces in their own communities and regions of Queensland.

Introducing the program, Queensland Treasurer and Minister for Sport Curtis Pitt stated “summer in Queensland is the perfect time to visit our state’s iconic beaches and beautiful parks and recreation spaces.

“A quick look at the Nature Play website opens up a wealth of budget-conscious and family-friendly active recreation ideas - from activities and events in your local area to playlists suitable for a range of natural environments.

“These new playlists will fire imaginations and really get kids motivated to get outside and experience everything our environment has to offer.

“The playlists, including contributions from 19 new organisations, include hundreds of ideas and activities to help get your summer holiday adventures underway across Queensland.”

The Nature Play initiative has already proven popular with its Passport to an Amazing Childhood program recently celebrating the issuing of its 200,000th passport in Queensland.

Treasurer Pitt added “I strongly encourage all Queensland families to visit the website and to also get involved in the Nature Play Queensland 30 days of summer challenge.

“Spending time engaging in outdoor activities delivers enormous benefits in terms of health, social and emotional development, and also builds resistance and creativity in our kids.

“We want to promote, encourage and create more opportunities for Queenslanders to get outside, get active and improve their health and well-being.”

The Queensland Government has provided $1.5 million to the Queensland Outdoor Recreation Federation over three years to support Nature Play Queensland.
