New hub and sustainability initiatives for Tasmania’s 2024 Clarence Jazz Festival
The annual Clarence Jazz Festival, presented by Clarence City Council is Tasmania’s longest running music festival and this year, the 28th Festival will be held at a new hub and introduce new sustainability initiatives.
The inclusive Festival running from 28th February to 3rd March offers music, art, and culinary delights. The Clarence Jazz Festival is a festival for everyone and is dedicated to providing affordable, safe, and accessible events that suit the whole family.
For the first time in 2024, the Festival is based at the new Clarence Jazz Festival Hub at Rosny Farm. Encompassing the Rosny Farm Arts Centre lawns and grounds, Rosny Barn, the Schoolhouse Gallery, and the expansive Rosny Parklands, the Festival Hub is easily accessible by bus, bike, ferry, foot, or car, and has plenty of parking and amenities. Spacious, scenic, and convenient, the Festival Hub is the new beating heart of the festival and will be jam-packed with live music, art, food, drinks, free activities, and much more.
This year the Festival is also introducing some new sustainability initiatives that are aimed at minimising the festival footprint. For the first time, this year you can sip your drinks from new, specially-branded, reusable Clarence Jazz Festival cups. Simply pay a $5 deposit and get your money back when you return your cup at the end of the day or festival, or take your cup home as a unique souvenir.
The Festival organisers are also encouraging visitors to bring along their own reusable cups for hot beverages – receiving a discount from coffee vendors - and a reusable water bottle.
Organisers are also working with waste management partners to make sure that they recycle and compost as much as possible and have friendly waste ambassadors from the Clarence Climate Action Network on-site as guides.
