Expanded three-day rugby sevens festival returns to Singapore
Organisers on the Singapore SVNS have promised an expanded entertainment offering to compliment the sporting action ahead of this year’s event.
With ticket going on sale tomorrow for the seventh and penultimate round of the HSBC SVNS 2024 at Singapore National Stadium from 3rd to 5th May, organisers are aiming to deliver a unique fusion of sport, entertainment and culture.
World Rugby Sevens General Manager, Sam Pinder explained “the first three tournaments of the reimagined HSBC SVNS have been a resounding success and we are looking forward to bringing world-class rugby and a festival atmosphere once more to Singapore National Stadium.
“This year’s event has expanded on the entertainment offering, with food markets, live music, artist performances and participation sports, which will allow fans to watch, play and engage in a multi-day festival of vibrant celebration and entertainment.
“We can’t wait to see the fans and teams bring the rugby spirit and take the HSBC SVNS Singapore experience to the next level.”
Under the series’ new model, the top eight teams based on cumulative series points at the conclusion of the seventh round in Singapore will secure their place in the 'winner takes all' Grand Final in the Spanish city of Madrid - from 31st May to 2nd June - where the ultimate champions will be crowned.
Taking place alongside the competition in Singapore, DJs will be occupying a beach club for those who want to party while the Sun Stage will feature live music performances and interactive audience participation.
Premium hospitality experiences are also due to be available at The Sun Room and The Spring Hotel which will “feature premium food and drink, a full programme of fun and entertainment in private lounges and the best seats in the house to see all the non-stop action.”
Singapore National Stadium has recently hosted high-profile events including concerts from Ed Sheeran, Coldplay and BlackPink.
Taylor Swift is also due to perform in six sold-out shows at the venue in March on her The Eras Tour.
Singapore has outlined ambitious targets for attracting overseas visitors, with major events one key part of its strategy.
