Singapore Sports Hub saw 30% growth in event days through 2023

By Nigel Benton

The Singapore Sports Hub has entered 2024 looking forward to the presentation of a wide range of sporting and community events during the year.

Having recently passed the first anniversary after the handover from private consortium SportsHub Pte Ltd to the Singapore Government-run Kallang Alive Sport Management (KASM) and with the new Kallang Football and Tennis Hubs, the precinct expects to attract around a million visitors during the year.

KASM has also announced that the Sports Hub saw a 30% growth in sports, entertainment and lifestyle event days in 2023, as compared to pre-COVID pandemic levels in 2019.

Besides the headlining sports events and live concert dates, 2023 also saw over 140 National School Games and school sports events held at multiple Sports Hub venues.

Over 20,000 hours were also dedicated to national athletes’ training at the venues.

Commenting on the operational performance, Singapore Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Second Minister for Law, Edwin Tong stated “we have introduced various offerings and programming as we work towards establishing these Sports Hub as a community icon that Singaporeans can identify with and be a part of.

"Singaporeans and visitors can look forward to even more in 2024, with the opening of the Kallang Football and Tennis Hubs, a stellar line-up of artistes scheduled to perform, new retail and lifestyle offerings, and more sport and community activities for all to enjoy."

The Sports Hub has promised more sports and lifestyle offerings in the coming year, such as the HSBC SVNS Singapore rugby sevens tournament, the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup and Intercontinental Cup basketball competitions, as well as top global live acts such as Mayday, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift.

2024 events expected to draw about 1 million visitors
Advising that that the precinct expects to draw close to 1 million visitors with its upcoming slate of events for 2024, KASM Chairman, Keith Magnus noted “from inception, we have focused on two fronts. First, integrating the team and building a culture of excellence and resilience. Second, investing in and raising the bar in sports and entertainment programming for the Kallang Alive precinct and Singapore.

"By actively engaging with local partners to bring our communities together throughout the year, and quickly establishing relationships and partnerships with industry players in the sports and entertainment world both regionally and globally, we have curated a calendar of world-class events that we hope our patrons will enjoy."
