New facilities open at Perth’s HBF Arena

A new $24 million home for the West Perth Football Club and Wanneroo Basketball Association has been opened at the HBF Arena in Perth’s northern suburbs.

The finished project marks the completion of a four-part investment in community sporting infrastructure which has seen the existing community sporting facilities at HBF Arena transformed - while creating local jobs in a variety of industries.

The redevelopment includes new function areas, player amenities, football development services and administration and member facilities for the West Perth Football Club.

Four brand new basketball courts have also been constructed to the south of the existing courts at HBF Arena, providing a new home for the Wanneroo Basketball Association. Additional parking facilities have also been delivered.

Northern suburbs communities, the Wanneroo Basketball Club and West Perth Football Club now have access to a venue with world-class facilities, providing the perfect place to foster sporting success and support social sport.

Opened on Saturday by Western Australian Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray along with local and State government representatives, key project contributors, and members from the respective basketball and football clubs, the majority of the funding for the project came from the Western Australian Government.

Commenting on the additions, Minister Murray stated “these facilities will provide new opportunities for local sport - from grassroots to state-level.

"State and elite levels of sport can't exist without the grassroots areas being supported by quality, accessible venues."
