Redeveloped gym opens at HBF Stadium
A refurbishment of the gym space at Perth’s HBF Stadium has seen the introduction of new equipment and programs including Queenax suspension training, Les Mills Smart Tech and suspended Yoga classes.
Opened on 27th January with a launch event of fitness, fun and festivities for 80 loyal members, the refurbished health and fitness centre includes an expansion of the existing gym, the addition of state-of-the-art equipment, a dedicated group fitness room and the introduction of Western Australia’s first Queenax suspension training system. Following the Western Australian Government’s $35 million investment in the new WAIS High Performance Service Centre, which opened last year, VenuesWest Chief Executive David Etherton explains that the opportunity arose to expand the existing HBF Stadium gym under the agency’s ‘New Vision Project’.
Etherton is delighted with the final result, stating “this refurbishment offers our loyal customers, some of whom have been with us since day one, a first class gym experience complete with the latest equipment.
“We are proud to be the first gym in WA offering QueenAx, the latest in functional and suspension training.”
83 year old Norman Solomon is impressed with new facilities now provided to members, commenting “I have been a member since 1999, and the current improvements to HBF Stadium have transformed not only to the gym but the whole environment including the frontage to the building. No doubt this will attract many more members.”
Another long standing member, Wendy Smith, is also taking advantage of the newly expanded gym, adding “the new equipment is fantastic with wonderful enthusiastic instructors who encourage you to work to the best of your ability.
“The facilities have greatly improved in both appearance and classes on offer. A gym membership at HBF Stadium is excellent value for money.”
The refurbishment is part of the New Vision Project designed to enhance the venue and its facilities, which began in the middle of last year. The full upgrade also includes:
• Remodelling of the entrance, facade and front areas of the venue
• Creation of a specific gym door entry and vehicle drop off zone
• Creation of an ‘octagon’ function space and a larger function garden area
• New children’s crèche
• Upgrade to 70% of the existing toilets and change rooms
• A new Group X Room with a Group Fitness Instructor’s stage, new PA system and Les Mills Smart Tech equipment including Smart Bars and Smart Steps.
Currently the health and fitness centre at HBF Stadium has 1,240 members.
