NBL and WNBL season schedules released together for the first time
In a significant moment for elite basketball, the Hungry Jack’s NBL and the WNBL schedules have been released side by side, marking an important step forward for a united future.
With both leagues aligning and collaborating on key moments, fans can now enjoy elite basketball up to six nights a week across the NBL and WNBL seasons.
Advising that the move represents a unified approach to storytelling, community engagement and the fan experience, showcasing the best of the best across Australia and New Zealand, NBL Group Chief Executive, David Stevenson stated "tThis is a historic moment for Australian basketball, as we roll out integrated Hungry Jack’s NBL and the WNBL schedules for the first time.
“We’re so excited about aligning our leagues so that fans can enjoy world-class basketball nearly every night of the week, from both the men’s and women’s games. It’s all about access, connection, and celebrating the game like never before.
“This approach allows us to amplify some of our most meaningful and popular themed rounds like Pride Round, Indigenous Round, Heritage Round and HoopsFest Perth, which will now be celebrated simultaneously across both competitions, giving fans a richer and more unified experience.
“None of this would be possible without the support and collaboration of all 18 NBL and WNBL clubs, who have embraced the vision and worked together to help bring this to life.
“With the return of HoopsFest to Perth, the launch of the Ignite Cup, the inclusion of the Pavlos Giannakopoulos Tournament, and the opportunity for our stars to face off against NBA teams, this is without doubt the biggest and most exciting season we’ve ever delivered. We can’t wait to see fans from all over Australia and New Zealand show their passion and pride for the game we all love.”
WNBL Chief Executive, Jennie Sager noted "this is a landmark moment, not just for women’s basketball, but for basketball fans right across the country.
“Fans can look forward to an incredible summer of hoops, with an increased number of women’s games this season, thrilling matchups, themed rounds, and more. This is just the first of many exciting announcements we have to come, including something special that’s in store for Round 1.
“The aligned approach with the NBL offers an exciting and seamless experience for fans, while shining a bright spotlight on the WNBL and the phenomenal athletes who continue to raise the bar for women’s sport."
NBL Chief Operating Officer and Head of Basketball Operations, Vince Crivelli added "we’ve built a schedule stacked with intensity, storylines, and some of the best rivalries in Australian sport.
“What makes this season so compelling is how personal so many of these matchups are. Fans are going to feel the tension and the emotion every single round. Whether it’s Bryce Cotton going head-to-head with the Wildcats and the Red Army, Matthew Dellavedova returning to Melbourne, or Kendric Davis lining up against the 36ers; these games aren’t just about competition, they’re about legacy, pride and proving a point.”
