Kai Tak Sports Park welcomes its one-millionth spectator during Hong Kong Football Festival 2025
Hong Kong's Kai Tak Sports Park (KTSP) has welcomed its one-millionth spectator today during the Hong Kong Football Festival 2025 marking an important milestone in the park's development.
Since its opening in March, the park has rapidly become a focal point for both local and international audiences, with over one million attendees participating in events at the Kai Tak Stadium within just five months. This achievement highlights KTSP’s exceptional ability to promote sports, culture, and tourism, laying a solid foundation for Hong Kong's event-driven economy.
Kai Tak Sports Park Chief Executive, John Sharkey noted “since the opening of Kai Tak Sports Park, the Kai Tak Stadium has hosted nine spectacular events totalling 27 event days from thrilling sports events to breath-taking musical performances, successfully attracting a million fans and supporters to cheer for their favourite teams and stars. Today, we celebrate the arrival of our one-millionth spectator, thanks to the enthusiastic participation of event organizers and every single attendee, who have joined us in crafting this proud story that belongs to Hong Kong.”
To commemorate this meaningful ‘Million Moment’ KTSP organised a series of surprise experiences for the one-millionth spectator, Mr. Ip and his family, allowing them to enjoy exclusive treatment during the international match between Arsenal and Tottenham.
Mr. Ip and his family were invited to step onto the field and, in the presence of Kai Tak Sports Park Chief Executive John Sharkey, Chief Operating Officer Darren Burden, TEG Sport Chairman Geoff Jones, and Kai Tak Sports Park Premier Founding Partner, Chief Customer Officer, Wealth and Personal Banking, HSBC Hong Kong Brian Hui received a special edition ‘One-Millionth Spectator’ commemorative T-shirt.
They also enjoyed an upgraded experience at the Celebration Hall of Kai Tak Stadium, indulging in an upgraded dining experience and seeing legendary players in person, creating an unprecedented viewing experience.
The ‘One-Millionth Spectator’ package also included tickets to future events at KTSP and dining vouchers for THE CHAMPION Sports Bar & Bites, making this memory even more precious and extending the joy into post-match moments.
The one-millionth spectator, Mr. Ip enthused “I never imagined I would be the one-millionth spectator and step onto the field amid cheers from participating fans, feeling just like a star! I sincerely thank Kai Tak Sports Park and the event organizer of the Football Festival for their surprise arrangements, providing my family and me with an unforgettable memory! I hope to see more events held at the 'Hong Kong home venue” in the future.”
Since its opening, KTSP has successfully hosted numerous international sports and entertainment events. The ‘One-Millionth Spectato’ marks the beginning of an exciting journey. Looking ahead, the park will host the 15th National Games, the MAMA Awards, and a BLACKPINK concert, further driving the flourishing event economy in Hong Kong and promoting the continuous growth of the sports and entertainment industries, creating more unforgettable and dazzling moments for the city.
