Newly opened Kai Tak Stadium to host Hong Kong Rugby Sevens 2025 tournament

Hong Kong’s newly opened 50,000-seat Kai Tak Stadium is hosting the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Rugby Sevens 2025 sporting spectacle being held from 28th to 30th March.

The Hong Kong Sevens 2025 will feature 72 matches with 30 world-class teams, alongside an impressive entertainment lineup. Headlining the event are Kaiser Chiefs, Pete Tong, and GALA, with an all-new laser show and the largest pyrotechnic displays in Sevens history set to enhance both the opening and closing ceremonies. The tournament is set to be a highlight of Hong Kong’s biggest sporting and entertainment weekend.

This year’s Hong Kong Sevens promises to be more spectacular than ever. With increased capacity and state-of-the-art technology set to elevate the fan experience. The stadium boasts a retractable roof and an advanced bowl cooling system, ensuring comfort in every seat. Off the field, the excitement continues at The Champion, one of Asia’s largest sports bars, stretching 100 metres along the East Concourse. Here, fans can soak up the electric atmosphere and enjoy the ultimate Sevens experience.

This year, the experience reaches new heights with the all-new South Terrace and South Deck, featuring a stunning panoramic glass wall overlooking Victoria Harbour. Fans can now soak in breathtaking views while immersing themselves in the electric Sevens atmosphere. For the ultimate experience, the newly launched South Stand SuperPass (available on a first-come, first-served basis, while stocks last) offers free-flow drinks as you cheer on your team. Whether you're a die-hard rugby fan or just there for the party, the South Stand delivers the perfect mix of energy and excitement.

The Hong Kong Sevens tournament’s new home, Kai Tak Sports Park, spans 28 hectares and features Kai Tak Mall, a dedicated retail zone with nearly 200 outlets, including close to 70 dining options, making it an ideal post-game gathering spot. Whether exploring Hong Kong’s rich culinary offerings or unwinding after the matches, the city’s diverse attractions make the Sevens weekend an experience beyond the stadium.

While the Hong Kong Sevens will mark the pinnacle of excitement, Hong Kong Super March transforms the city into a month-long celebration. Unmissable world-class events across sports, arts, and culture include Art Basel Hong Kong, Art Central, and the international edition of ComplexCon, bringing global phenomena to Asia’s mega event hub. Visitors can also enjoy over 160 exclusive deals at more than 1,500 outlets, including dining, attractions, and hotels like JOYPOLIS SPORTS HONG KONG and Dorsett Kai Tak Hong Kong.
