Kai Tak Sports Park advises of creation of 2,000 jobs

Management at Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Sports Park have announced that they are planning to create around 2,000 jobs by the middle of 2025.

Commencing in the coming six months, the venue precinct plans to fill the 100 positions related to catering services, management, sports facility maintenance, service ambassadors, event planners, financial management and planning, as well as marketing and event promotion professionals.

Advising of the recruitment cycle as the opening approaches, Kai Tak Sports Park Project Director, John Sharkey stated “Kai Tak Sports Park will serve as Hong Kong’s home venue to provide unparalleled sports facilities to promote sports in the community, supporting the hosting of international sporting events in Hong Kong, and offering local athletes more opportunities to compete at home.

“Additionally, we aim to provide excellent career development opportunities for individuals aspiring to pursue a career in the sports industry.”

Through this recruitment plan, Kai Tak Sports Park will provide more opportunities for Hong Kong residents to engage in the sports industry. In addition to full-time positions, it will also offer flexible part-time arrangements suitable for individuals seeking a diverse lifestyle, such as slashers and homemakers.

Attracting international events
With Hong Kong having suffered from a lack of venues suitable for holding events of 5000 to 50,000 people, the highly anticipated Kai Tak Sports Park is being promoted as being set to become a centre for major international sport and entertainment events.

Current venue capacities in the administrative region are AsiaWorld-Expo, which can take up to 14,000 people, the Hong Kong Coliseum which can accommodate up to 12,500 and the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre with an 8,000 capacity.

Given major concert tours are planned up to three years in advance, it may be expected that some major acts that will play in the new stadium from mid-2025 will be announced shortly.

It is already scheduled to co-host the 15th China National Games along with Guangdong and Macau as of September 2025.

The Kai Tak Sports Park will feature a 50,000-seat main stadium with a retractable roof, an indoor sports centre with the flexibility to host community sports and events of up to 10,000 seats, and a public sports ground with a capacity of 5,000 seats.

It will also inlcude a retail area which will house more than 200 retail and dining stores, which is expected to create partnership opportunities for marketers and boost local retail sales.
