Gumbuya World presents the community with golden pheasant statue naming opportunity
Victorian attraction Gumbuya World, is celebrating a brand-new pheasant exhibition and is giving the community a chance to name its famous 20-metre long golden pheasant statue.
The pheasant was purchased by the original owner of Gumbuya, Ron Rado, and pays homage to the history of the site – it was originally a pheasant farm before being converted into a family wildlife park in 1978.
Gumbuya World Chief Executive Ron Weinzierl said the Gumbuya team is incredibly excited to offer the community the chance to name the iconic statue.
Weinzierl notes “the pheasant has stood proudly at the park’s entrance since the early 1980s when it was known as Gumbuya Park, and to this day is one of the most popular sights at Gumbuya World, so we’re thrilled to give one lucky community member the chance to name it.
“We’re looking for the most original and creative name that also leans into the Australian and Indigenous background of Gumbuya World.”
Victorians can nominate a name for the pheasant via the Gumbuya World Facebook page with entries open from Friday 11th June – Friday 25th June. The lucky person who comes up with the most creative name will win complimentary entry to Gumbuya World for them and their family for an entire year. The winning name will be announced Monday 28th June via Facebook.
The pheasant exhibition is one of many exciting new features at Gumbuya World, including the Aussie Outback Experience, where guests can enjoy true blue Aussie activities like cow milking, sheep shearing and whip cracking.
Gumbaya World advise that the wildlife park is open each day and offers “an incredible wildlife adventure with an Australiana twist. Get cosy with koalas, wombats and roos, or step into the critter cave and meet some creepy crawlies including bearded dragons and pythons. For an added experience, visitors can also book animal close-ups and one-on-one encounters with our friendly rangers.”
Each weekend ticket to Gumbuya World also includes unlimited rides within Gumbuya’s two worlds of rides: Oz Adventure and Outback Explorers. Enjoy the mighty Rebel and the high speed, high altitude Tree Swing. For little adventurer’s there is plenty of fun including Dodgem Cars, the Outback Pirate Ship and the super sweet Berry Twirl.
Gumbuya World is located at 2705 Princes Highway Tynong, Victoria 3813. For tickets and more information go to gumbuya.com.au/
