Coronavirus Update: City of Melbourne ‘cleaning blitz’, Dreamworld food donations, Gumbuya World and MCA closures - 24th March 2019
Gymnastics Victoria has advised that gymnastics clubs across the state have ceased operating "for the foreseeable future".
Sydney's Museum of Contemporary Art Australia closed to the public "until further notice to help protect the health of all visitors and staff" as of yesterday.
The City of Melbourne has advised that it is undertaking a citywide "cleaning blitz" of assets including deep cleaning of priority park assets - including drinking fountains, high pressure washing of toilets, bin surrounds and barbeques; increased frequency of high pressure cleans of street furniture; installation of new soap dispensers in toilet blocks in Melbourne’s busiest parks; and increased frequency of cleaning of public toilet blocks.
With Dreamworld and WhiteWater World closed, the attractions are supporting locals in need by donating hundreds of perishable items. This morning, Australia’s leading food rescue charity, OzHarvest, collected 755 kilograms of food from Dreamworld which will assist in putting 2,265 meals on tables (pictured).
Gumbuya World has temporarily closed its doors until further notice to help limit the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Australian Turf Club has advised that the remainder of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival will be conducted without spectators.
City of Darwin advises of changes to its library services imposing a limit of 25 people in City of Darwin Libraries at any one time, for a maximum of 30 minutes. All library programs have also been cancelled until further notice along with the closure of all Fun Bus and Healthy Darwin programs.
Pinchgut Opera, has cancelled their Splendour of Venice concerts, which were due to take place at the Great Hall, Sydney University on Sunday 26th April. They are planning to reschedule these concerts to a later date.
