Global partnership delivers International Sport Management online degree

Federation University Australia has partnered with global sport industry experts, the World Academy of Sport, to deliver a custom-built, 100% online Bachelor of International Sport Management degree.

The partnership has been in the planning for months (pre COVID-19) to offer student-athletes and prospective world learners the bespoke, industry-designed and 100% online degree in International Sport Management.

Registrations are now open, with the degree granting students, up-and-coming “sporting stars” and world learners flexibility around life, commitments, school, work and sport training.

Equipping the future leaders of the sport industry with 21st century skills and experience will help shape the future of an industry dented by COVID-19, says Director of International Sport Management at Federation University Dr Sue Brown.

Dr Brown advises “we are seeing the sport industry looking to the future and re-shaping, re-organising and upskilling with new technologies, new skills and a new approach to learning, and our degree supports that – 100% online and flexible – so even competitive athletes can study and train without compromising their education.

“It’s clear the sport industry and people’s passion for sport at every level is very much alive and now is the time to take those opportunities to upskill and prepare for the future.”

The flexibility of the degree allows part-time students up to ten years to complete their degree, offering athletes who might otherwise sacrifice tertiary education, the opportunity to turn their passion into a profession and complete their education while training and competing.

The World Academy of Sport’s association with sporting organisations around the world gives students the chance to rub shoulders with sport leaders and contacts in sport management, as well as access to exclusive case studies and work placement opportunities – appealing aspects of the degree not readily available to the average student.

Already experienced providers of global sport education opportunities and pathways, the World Academy of Sport has seen a distinct shift toward upskilling and online learning from the international sport federations they work with, with some coaching programs spiking in recent months.

The International Sport Management degree being offered by the University and the World Academy of Sport is at the forefront of the future of sport learning – one that provides an online, global reach and yields qualified professionals with new and relevant industry skills.
