SANFL agrees sponsorship and education partnership with Torrens University Australia
The South Australian National Football League (SANFL) and Torrens University Australia have joined forces, launching a unique three-year major partnership which includes the sponsorship of SANFL’s Under 16 and Under 18 competitions, along with a key education component specifically designed to enhance employment outcomes for students enrolled in the University’s undergraduate and postgraduate sports management programs.
Torrens University Australia, which is part of the world’s largest higher education network -Laureate International Universities - has collaborated with SANFL to sponsor the U16 and U18 competitions, forming the new Torrens Uni Cup.
The education element of the partnership will see the extension of invaluable, real work place experience opportunities to students enrolled in the University’s Bachelor of Business (Sports Management) and Master of Business Administration (Sports Management), as well as the delivery of guest lectures from experienced SANFL administrators. In turn, twelve SANFL representatives - either players or staff from the club administration and corporate divisions – will be given the opportunity to undertake a Torrens University sports management program every year for the next three years.
SANFL Chief Executive Jake Parkinson said the League was thrilled to partner with Torrens University Australia to form this truly dynamic partnership.
Parkinson stated “the education component is an exciting opportunity within the League as it ensures talent is developed for future leadership of Football in South Australia.
“We will also welcome students from Torrens University within various SANFL business divisions to learn business operations and undertake a real SANFL project throughout the year. The partnership between SANFL and one of the preeminent education institutions in the world demonstrates our commitment to align ourselves with leading brands and businesses.”
Torrens University Australia’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Justin Beilby, echoed SANFL’s enthusiasm for the partnership, commenting “we’re delighted to be working with SANFL and are honoured much of our support is being directed to foster growth in U16 and U18 competitions from which the future Ambassadors of the game will come.
“Collaboration with industry leading organisations strategically aligned to our programs of study - locally, nationally and internationally - is a key principle of how we operate, and we are incredibly excited about the opportunities the partnership will deliver our sports management students.
“Through these innovative collaborations, we are able to offer students the type of real world experience which helps enhance graduate employability and career success, the core objective of everything we do.”
