Former Bunnings Chief Executive John Gillam named BlueFit Chairman
Leisure management company BlueFit have announced the appointment of John Gillam - the former long-term Chief Executive of Bunnings - as Chairman.
This appointment marks a step-up in strategic intent for BlueFit as it looks to build on its impressive performance record since it started operating in 2007.
Announcing the appointment, BlueFit’s founder and Chief Executive Todd McHardy, stated "we have produced great community results since we started BlueFit a decade ago by working closely with our Council partners.
“We have a real passion for community leisure and a clear vision for growing our business in the right way for all stakeholders. John is a very knowledgeable and humble guy and has proved to be a great mentor for me already. His impact on our current and future contracts will be outstanding.”
Gillam was the Chief Executive of hardware retail giant Bunnings for 12 years up until the end of 2016 and has other board roles with CSR Limited and the Clontarf Foundation.
Looking forward to his new role Gillam commented "I have been very impressed with BlueFit, particularly it’s community spirit and the way it goes about delivering great outcomes for customers.
“Hopefully we will be able to expand the scale of BlueFit’s operations in ways that keep exciting customers as well as pleasing Council partners”.
BlueFit currently operate facilities across metropolitan Sydney including the Lane Cove and Hurstville Aquatic Leisure Centres, the Greenwich Baths and the Hurstville Golf Course, as well as the new Angelo Anestis Aquatic Centre in Bexley.
