Work advancing at new Rockdale aquatic and recreation centre
With contracts having been signed with builders FDC Construction and Fit Out in April last year, work on Rockdale city’s new aquatic and recreation centre is moving forward with the new facility expected to open in early 2017.
Work on the $24 million project commenced in July last year, with the project including an aquatic centre housing an indoor 25 metre pool, gym, community centre and amenities with an external 50 metre pool with grandstand seating, children’s splash deck and café. The facility will also include car parking for 115 cars.
Now known as the Angelo Anestis Aquatic Centre, in honour of a longstanding community member, the new facility is located in the southern Sydney suburb of Bexley North.
FDC is undertaking the project in conjunction with Brewster Hjorth Architects, Structural and Civil engineers; Aecom and swimming pools consultants; Paul Stevenson & Associates.
