BlueFit to manage soon-to-open Bexley Aquatic Centre

Facility management company BlueFit has undertaken the management of the Angelo Anestis Aquatic Centre in the Sydney suburb of Bexley, which is due to open on Australia Day - Thursday 26th January - with free entry and a day of community activities.

Commenting on the upcoming opening of the new facility, Bayside Council Administrator Greg Wright stated “we are excited that the Angelo Anestis Aquatic Centre is completed and within the $24.3 million budget.

“The $24.3 million covers the design and construction project and includes the gym.”

Replacing the former Bexley Pool, which closed in April 2014, cost has been a key issue during the development of the facility.

The former Rockdale City Council initially planned a $35 million facility but that development was scaled back with Councillors agreeing the current budget in December 2014.

The soon-to-open centre features an outdoor eight-lane 50 metre pool which will be open year round, a children’s zero depth splash pad, and an indoor 25 metre pool with ramp access.

The facility also features a fully equipped health club with a group fitness room offering fitness classes including Les Mills programs, a community room and crèche and space for a variety of classes.

Completed by FDC Constructions two months ahead of schedule, Wright added “it’s an important community asset and one that many residents have been looking forward to using again, and we are delighted that it’s opened in summer for all to enjoy.”

Looking forward to the opening, BlueFit Managing Director Todd McHardy added "BlueFit is delighted to be partnering with Bayside Council on the management of this new community leisure facility.”
