Vietnam’s Sun Group launches Kiss the Stars multimedia spectacular on the island of Phu Quoc

Kiss the Stars, a highly innovative multimedia show set on a unique aquatic stage, complete with the world’s largest water projection screen, has opened at Sun World Group’s Sunset Town resort on Phu Quoc Island in southern Vietnam.

Opened on 24th December in time for the Christmas and New Year holiday period, the new permanent show was created by French-based event production company ECA2.

ECA2 were set the task of creating a stage that would interacts with Sunset Town’s existing elements including Kiss Bridge, Kiss Island, and the resort’s cable car, creating an outdoor aquatic theatre stage.

The biggest project that the firm has created to date, Kiss the Stars features a water cascade screen measuring 1,000 metre² that presents a love story - of a local boy who falls for a girl from space - brought to life through multimedia effects including fire and water, light and sound.

The show, which was created, designed and produced by ECA2, is designed to work as an all-multimedia experience or a hybrid one that includes dozens of live cast members.

ECA2 Chairman and Chief Executive, Jean-Christophe Canizares explains that “Kiss the Stars is genuinely the harmonious integration of a monumental architectural multimedia show.”

The show is set within the Sunset Town retail, dining, and entertainment precinct with a romanticised Mediterranean seaside village theme. It can accommodate a crowd of 5,000.

Sun World Group Chief Operating Officer, Brad Loxley advised “the timing of the show allows guests to admire the sun setting into the south Phu Quoc sea, framed by the Show’s gigantic arches and with the picturesque ‘Kiss Bridge’ in the foreground.”

Setting out Sun Group’s longterm objectives, Pham Quoc Quan, Chairman of Sun Group, explained “Sun Group has a vision to become a Vietnamese private economic group with a world-class scale, and the goal is to create economic benefits not only for the business itself but also for the community.

"The ultimate goal of Sun Group is to create works that leave a lasting mark on time, beautify and enrich the country.”

Sun World Group Director of Operations and Set-Up, Daan Duijm concluded “the Kiss the Stars show is not just pushing boundaries in Vietnam but worldwide. From the 1000 metre² Sea Water Cascade, to the almost 300 special effect fixtures, guests will be impressed by the iconic arches and immersed in a world class show experience.”

Last year, ECA2 was also chosen to design and produce a new laser and light show for Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, with the goal of creating a new experience for New Year’s Eve and beyond.
