Swan Hill Pioneer Settlement set to unveil Laservision multimedia attraction
Swan Hill Rural City Council has engaged with Laservision Mega Media to design, develop and install a world-class, large-scale, night-time attraction on the banks of the Little Murray River at the Swan Hill Pioneer Settlement.
The state of the art attraction is the centrepiece for the revitalisation of the Pioneer Settlement, one of Victoria’s major regional attractions that is currently in its 50th year of operation.
The new attraction follows a joint Victorian and Federal Government announcement from November 2014 of a $2.8 million investment towards the development of the Swan Hill Pioneer Settlement ‘Heartbeat of the Murray’ experience project.
Additional contributions from the Swan Hill Rural City Council, Friends of the Pioneer Settlement and Swan Hill Incorporated brought the project total to $3.85 million of investment into the state-of-the-art multi-media laser light show, augmented reality experience, Dumosa Hall Café, Horseshoe Bend Park and pontoon at the Lower Murray Inn.
The Federal Member for Mallee, Andrew Broad, anticipates the development of ‘Heartbeat of the Murray’ multi-media spectacular to “significantly increase visitor numbers to the region, which will be a great boost to the local and regional economy.”
The redevelopment of Swan Hill Pioneer Settlement will increase tourism, provides economic benefits such as creating jobs for the local community and stimulating private sector investment in the settlement and surrounding Murray River region.
Sydney-based Laservision secured the contract to supply the multimedia experience following a competitive tender process.
Commenting on the prokect, Laservision General Manager, Shannon Brooks, explains “we are thrilled to deliver a spectacular new night-time show experience on the banks of the Little Murray River.
“Our high-powered lasers, waterscreens with high-definition video projection, Flame FX and Mega Media Special FX, immerse audiences in the story of the Murray River, highlighting its importance and history in a modern and entertaining way.”
Swan Hill Rural City Council Director of Infrastructure, David Leahy, concludes “this exciting new tourism project has provided additional economic benefits to the region with the appointment of local contractors who have been working alongside Laservision for the installation of equipment, civil and construction works.
“The Heartbeat of the Murray Spectacular is a new night-time experience for the Pioneer Settlement that expands the new day-visitor product - providing visitors to our region an experience they’ll never forget.”
‘The Heartbeat of the Murray’ night-time spectacular is set to open to the public prior to Christmas.
