Fitness business experts share thoughts on the significance of Global Wellness Day

Today - Saturday 12th June - marks Global Wellness Day (GWD), celebrated in more than 130 countries and in over 5,000 different locations.

An entirely not-for-profit project dedicated to ‘living well’ and bringing the spotlight to ways in which people can live healthier better lives, GWD aims to direct people and societies’ thoughts towards asking “how can I live a healthier and better life?” - with the potential to create ripples of transformation for the rest of the year.

Explaining what Global Wellness Day means to them and giving their advice for anyone wanting to live a ‘healthier and better life’, three Australian fitness business experts shared their thoughts with Australasian Leisure Management.

John Pirlo, founder of Ninja Parc
"I think it is really important that the world stop and take note of global wellness day, especially in light of the year we have had with the pandemic."

"While it is important to move and be active, which is something many people were missing last year, last year also really had some businesses and people in general on edge, so it goes to show that keeping your mind, family, and kids etc. healthy and well is also very important."

"This year, have fun with it. Get the kids, go out and play and do things that are good for you, your mind, family and the world around you”

Angharad Saynor, Head of Brand and Master Trainer, Infinite Cycle
"In recent years the importance of moving your body each day has been highlighted by so many mental health professionals on improving your mental wellness. The more we can get this message out to the majority, the better.

“Through my company, Infinite Cycle, we have managed to highlight the importance of mental wellness in a really significant way. In every single class we hold, we have a mindset track, 3 minutes dedicated to taking a minute of your day to reflect on how you are feeling, what your body is feeling, and also what your mind is feeling.

“We realise that so many of us run around at 100 miles an hour every day without taking a second to check in with ourselves, so, we have created a space to force you to do that, every time you ride.”

Adala Bolto, Managing Director and co-founder, ZADI Training
"'One day can change your whole life’, is the simple, yet profound slogan for Global Wellness Day.

“Having a dedicated day to actively promote spreading wellness in our lives and others lives one day at a time is a very positive initiative.

“All positive change starts with awareness, and I’m all for a day to do just that, for wellness globally!”
