FINA World Aquatics Convention provides host city insights

FINA, the international swimming federation, will provide insight into how cities can work more effectively with their national federations to host FINA Championship events during the first FINA World Aquatics Convention.

The 'Host City Insights' conference session - with a panel including Carlos Arthur Nuzman (Rio 2016), Charlotte O'Neill (London 2012) and Lars Haue-Pedersen (TSE Consulting) - will discuss how international aquatic events can deliver long-term economic, social, sporting and tourism benefits, and a lasting legacy.

As FINA President Dr. Julio. C. Maglione explains "FINA is committed to growing aquatic sport worldwide. We recognise that one way to achieve this is to engage with new cities around the world that are interested in learning about how hosting a FINA event can help them deliver their city objectives as well as helping FINA achieve its own objectives.

"We are looking for partnerships with cities that deliver real benefit to all stakeholders and I encourage representatives of such cities to attend the FINA World Aquatics Convention so we may initiate a dialogue."

Great Big Events has signed up to become an Official Supporter of the event, which has led the event Organising Committee to state "to deliver a FINA Championship event requires collaborations with the best service providers in the business. Great Big Events has consistently delivered excellent Sport

Presentation for FINA and we are very pleased they are supporting the growth and development of aquatic sports through the partnership with the FINA World Aquatics Convention. We look forward to Great Big Events providing our delegates with the opportunity to meet a partner with knowledge, experience and an ability to deliver excellent results in the delivery of events."

Greg Bowman, Managing and Creative Director, Great Big Events adds "Great Big Events and FINA have enjoyed a longstanding partnership dating back to the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. From a Sport Presentation perspective, it is always hugely exciting and challenging for us to deliver FINA events.

"More than any other international Federation, there is always a commitment to innovate and to consistently extend the brand to deliver the best platform for the athletes to perform and spectators to enjoy. The creation of the FINA World Aquatics Convention is a fantastic initiative that further demonstrates FINAs commitment to excellence, reinforcing their position as a market leader in world sport. Great Big Events is extremely proud to be a part of the extended FINA family and looks forward to continuing that association in the future."

The first ever FINA World Aquatics Convention is taking place from 27th to 29th September at the Conrad Resort in Punta del Este, Uruguay.

Set to be staged every two years, the FINA World Aquatics Convention provides an opportunity for organisations operating in the international aquatics business community to come together to network, develop new business opportunities and share the knowledge that will contribute to the growth and development of aquatics sport worldwide.

With over 170 different organisations representing over 120 countries, a comprehensive exhibition and conference program already confirmed, this launch event designed to facilitate the growth and development of aquatic sports, and the business opportunities around the sport, is generating significant traction among the international aquatics community.
