EpicSurf to bring real surfing indoors for first time in Saudi Arabia
Aquatic Development Group (ADG) has announced they will be installing their award-winning stationary surf wave - EpicSurf 46 product - at the new state-of-the-art sports and entertainment complex by Glo Entertainment coming to the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, scheduled to open in 2025.
ADG’s EpicSurf 46 product is a 14-meter-wide surfing facility that produces waves up to 1.6 meters high. In a compact space, waves are easily customised for a range of experience levels – from beginners learning to surf, to experts cross-training for their next ocean competition.
Julie Kline, Marketing Manager at ADG and EpicSurf shared “we have seen the accelerated growth in the Middle East, and are proud to be bringing our EpicSurf technology to the Kingdom for all people to experience the sport and joy of surfing. Soon, the eight million citizens in Riyadh will have the opportunity to learn to surf right in the dynamic and futuristic KAFD destination.”
The KAFD features 1.6 million square meters of state-of-the-art office space, world-class facilities, and luxury residences designed to transform how urban communities live, work, and play.
It is the first vertical city solution in Saudi Arabia, comprising a 5-asset class mixed use living district, a key driver of Riyadh’s economic ambitions and the world’s largest LEED-certified mixed-use financial district. KAFD Management Company is owned fully by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In addition to the EpicSurf installation, the Glo Indoor Park will feature indoor skydiving, ziplining, VR gaming, trampolines, a skate park and climbing walls.
Following in the values of the Saudi Vision 2030 which is centred around sustainability, EpicSurf is engineered with eco-friendly practices in mind. EpicSurf tackles challenges posed by extreme heat and weather conditions in MENA, with a design that conserves water and energy, is constructed with green building materials and features a variable flow system for power efficiency.
As leaders within the wave system design and manufacturing industry for over 50 years, Aquatic Development Group (ADG), a member of MENALAC (Middle East and North Africa Leisure & Attractions Council) is passionate about delivering EpicSurf as an inclusive and safe surfing experience beyond the ocean while maintaining a commitment to environmentally responsibility and sustainable practices.
