Construction set to commence on Frankston Council’s Jubilee Park Stadium
Work to build Frankston City Council’s new $35 million Jubilee Park indoor sports arena is set to commence next month.
Already one of Frankston City's premier regional open space reserves, the development results from the location having been identified as the ideal site to further develop and increase local participation in sport, detailed in the Jubilee Park Master Plan.
When complete, the indoor stadium will include six multipurpose indoor courts with a 1,000 seat show court, four indoor cricket training nets, training facilities, community meeting and function rooms, change rooms, a cafe, and a creche.
Frankston ratepayers will contribute more than $20 million to the project while the Victorian Government has contributed $10 million, the Federal Government $4.56 million, and Cricket Victoria $200,000.
Commenting on the project, Frankston Mayor, Kris Bolam stated “construction of the Jubilee Park Stadium has been awarded to Lloyd Group Pty Ltd and this exciting project will start to take shape soon
“The Jubilee Park works will transform the site into a hub for regional cricket, AFL and netball and compliment the many other projects that will create a beautiful, well-connected parkland.”
While some mature trees will be removed to accommodate works, Frankston Council’s Director of Infrastructure and Operations, Cam Arullanantham, said that at least 100 canopy trees in two metre advanced height will be planted in the stadium precinct, as well as 700 indigenous trees across Jubilee Park.
Arullanantham added “we have worked to ensure the updates to Jubilee Park deliver ecological benefits and enhance the natural environment. We listened to residents’ concerns and adopted feedback in the updated plans as much as possible.”
The new venue is expected to be complete as of June 2023.
