Frankston City Council names new aquatic centre
Having received 755 entries in a community competition to name its new $49.7 million regional aquatic centre, Frankston City Council has announced that it will be called the Peninsula Aquatic Recreation Centre.
The Council has now submitted an application to the Office of Geographic Naming to formally approve and gazette the name.
Meanwhile, the construction project is approaching the halfway stage with steel structural works well underway, the concrete works completed for the 50 metre pool and the program pool and construction of the slide tower is progressing.
Construction activities remain on track to open in the second half of 2014.
Peninsula Regional Aquatic Centre Manager Bruce Mackay will be addressing the Aquatics and Recreation Victoria (ARV) Annual General Meeting on Thursday 21st November.
