First pool reopens in Kwinana Recquatic redevelopment

Undergoing a $6 million refurbishment that aims to establish the facility as Kwinana's premier fitness and recreation centre, Kwinana Recquatic has reopened its Hydrotherapy Pool.

With Aqua Classes already operating in the pool, Swim School and Active Parent classes will recommence in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile the 25 metre pool is currently being re-tiled and is expected to re-open in June.

The delayed reopening, the facility was meant to have reopened in December, has led to criticism with the Kwinana Swimming Club having asked the City of Kwinana for a $3,390 donation to cover costs associated with using the Rockingham Outdoor Pool, where its squad members currently train.

A problem with the adhesion of tiles on the pool’s floor apparently caused the delays.

Other elements of the refurbishement include new aquatic pumps and filters, installation of an access chair lift for the 25 metre pool and new lighting. The redevelopment also includes work on the health and fitness suite including new equipment for the weights room, a new spin room and a new floor covering in the group fitness room.

Kwinana Recquatic originally began operations in 2003.
