Centre manager appointed for new Splash Aqua Park and Leisure Centre

Experienced industry manager Savva Giannikos has been appointed to head up the new Splash Aqua Park and Leisure Centre development in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.

Located in one of Australia’s fastest growing communities in Craigieburn, Splash is Melbourne’s newest premium leisure complex, providing access to a range of health, fitness and lifestyle programs and services and top of the range facilities and equipment.

Giannikos, aged 34, has more than a decade of senior level experience, including time as Manager at WaterMarc Banyule, Windy Hill Fitness Centre, Aqua Jetty and Dandenong Oasis and most recently as Operations Coordinator at Broadmeadows Aquatic and Leisure Centre.

Looking forward to his new role, Giannikos stated “I’m really excited about the opportunity to be working in a new state-of-the-art centre - that will soon become one of Melbourne’s key regional aquatic and leisure facilities.

“Splash is already an iconic venue - we have significant interest from our community and expect to host more than a million visits in our first 12 months.

“The opportunity to lead a team in opening what will be an iconic facility doesn’t come along often, and I am honoured to be trusted with Hume City Council’s largest leisure facility.”

At a cost of $35.5 million, Splash Aqua Park and Leisure Centre is the biggest project to ever to be delivered by Hume City Council.

The new facility has already generated considerable interest with more than 15,000 people actively following the project on the Splash Aqua Park and Leisure Centre Facebook page and 8,000 people having pre-registered their interest in an online survey.

It is expected that 3,000 members will join and an additional 3,000 students will enrol in the centre’s swim school, before its October opening.

Splash Aqua Park and Leisure Centre includes:

• Two large waterslides - standing at just under 14 metres;
• A 24/7 gymnasium;
• Dedicated Group Fitness, Cycle and Mind and Body Studios;
• A children's Aqua Play Zone;
• Leisure, toddler and learn to swim pools;
• A 50 metre pool;
• A warm water pool;
• Spas, sauna and steam room;
• Health and Wellness Suites; and
• Cafe.

Foundation memberships will be launched next month while an online expressions of interest and enrolments process for the Splash swim school is currently being developed and will be launched in August 2017.
