Aquamoves introduces child friendly Fitness Classes to compensate for no creche

Making it easier and more accessible for parents to maintain their health and wellbeing, Greater Shepparton City Council’s Aquamoves facility is introducing Child Friendly Fitness Classes.

From Wednesday 7th February 2024, the Aquamoves timetable will feature three classes where participants are welcome to bring children along.

Aquamoves have set up a special space in their group fitness studios just for children, so they can play while participants sweat it out nearby.

Aquamoves Centre Acting Manager, Elise White, said the idea of child friendly classes aimed to make it easier for people with young children.

White noted “we know that physical activity is so important for overall health and wellbeing, but we also recognise that physical activity can be difficult for parents with young children that need supervision.

“This is why we are encouraging people to utilise these child friendly classes at Aquamoves, so the kids can play and have fun while you get a workout in.”

The announcement of the child friendly Fitness Classes, while welcomed by members, was also met with queries on social media regarding the closure of the creche.

Aquamoves advised “there are currently no plans to reopen the creche. This is due to a number of factors, mainly staffing as our staff are needed at our other child care facilities. We are hoping that these child-friendly classes can help parents who did rely on the creche to get their workout in.”
