Addressing waterslide standards AALARA calls for nominations to Aquatics Subcommittee

The Australian Amusement, Leisure and Recreation Association (AALARA) is looking for passionate and knowledgeable industry professionals to be part of its Aquatics Subcommittee.

With AALARA members having a history of industry-leading best practice in the management of aquatics and waterparks, particularly in risk management and safety, as a result of discussions at its most recent Board Meeting, the Association is moving to re-establish the Subcommittee.

AALARA advise "this short-term subcommittee has been formed for the specific purpose of reviewing the proposed EN standards for waterslides, and providing feedback to Standards Australia with particular focus on the adoption and/or modification of the EN Standard."

AALARA adds that "we’re aiming for broad industry input, so whether you're an operator, supplier, or work in aquatic safety or engineering, your voice matters."

Timeline and Commitment

  • Meetings will be held via Zoom and is expected to involve two to three Zoom meetings, with reading and reviewing the EN standards in between.

  • The committee will wrap up once feedback is submitted

  • AALARA aims to have the group up and running in the coming weeks

The Subcommittee is being chaired by Matt George, General Manager at Jamberoo Action Park and AALARA Board member. It will be coordinated by AALARA Administration Assistant Julia O’Neill.

AALARA go on to say "we welcome expressions of interest from across all corners of the industry.

"If you know someone in your team who would be a great fit, please encourage them to apply."
