New waterslides open at Perth's Beatty Park Leisure Centre
Young swimmers are now able to enjoy two new waterslides at Beatty Park Leisure Centre following the completion of series of upgrades at the facility by the City of Vincent.
The final stage of a $3.4 million project to upgrade indoor aquatic area at the Centre, upgrades have included pool tiling, Aboriginal tile artwork, garden beds and a water playground with water features, giant tipping bucket and netball hoops.
The facility’s popular green frog also had a makeover with a fresh coat of paint while other works have seen the installation of change cubicles and heated showers on the pool deck level, updated pipework and a new water treatment system.
With the waterslides now open to the public after the WA Department of Health’s approval, City of Vincent Mayor, Emma Cole is looking forward to children being able to enjoy them during the April school holidays.
Mayor Cole commented “Kids from across Perth and local swimming groups have been loving the upgrades to our indoor pool area at Beatty Park.
“We have all been waiting for the arrival of the slides, which are unfortunately not manufactured in Australia and had been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“They have finally arrived and now kids can enjoy them with their family and friends during the school holidays.
“My son is one of the kids that has been waiting a long time for these slides and he cannot wait to test them out.”
The upgrade project was backed by $471,000 of Federal Government grant funding.
