YMCA NSW offers free swimming lessons for children through September and October
Believing that every child deserves the opportunity to learn life-saving water safety skills, the YMCA NSW is offering a free swimming lesson to all children aged under five years at its swim schools through to the middle of October.
Starting from 19th September, the free lesson is available during national Learn to Swim Week (24th September to 2nd October) and through until 16th October.
Further, at our YMCA Swim School at Mariners Centre of Excellence in Tuggerah on the NSW Central Coast, the offer is greater still – in addition to the Learn to Swim Week free lesson, this centre will also offer four free consecutive lessons from Tuesday 4th to Friday 7th October between 8.30am and 11.30am.
Commenting on its backing of the Learn to Swim Week awareness campaign, YMCA NSW Chief Executive Leisa Hart stated “YMCA NSW is one of the largest providers of swimming lessons to children in NSW and the ACT, instructing 16,000 kids every week.
“Swimming lessons are not mandatory in Australia for children and it concerns us greatly that thousands of kids don’t have access to lessons for a range of reasons including cost.
“We strongly believe all children should have the opportunity to learn to swimand as such we are delighted to offer free lessons during Learn to Swim Week and to further extend this offer through to October 16.”
To register, parents can contact their local YMCA swimming pool by phone, through the website or by visiting the centre.
The offer is for children not already registered or enrolled in YMCA swimming lessons.
