Tixel unites music industry against ticket fraud

New technology from ethical ticket resale platform, Tixel, that prevents scalping and fraud is being supported by Handsome Tours, Astral People, Beyond The Valley, G-Flip and Thelma Plum.

The Tixel platform that provides a solution to their fans rather than just sitting idle has experienced significant growth in 2019 with over 150,000 music fans signing up to the service in the last six months. The fan-centric approach demonstrates the Australian music industry is finally willing to be proactive in a bid to deflect scalpers and protect punters.

Tixel's Jason Webb advises "the music industry is doing their fans a disservice if they don't provide a resale platform.

"Once an event is sold out, we've noticed over 80% of posts in Facebook groups are related to fake sellers trying to sell scam tickets, and regular punters desperately trying to protect themselves and their peers. We're thrilled that that promoters and artists have taken an active stance to protect their valued audiences from being ripped off by scalpers".

Untitled Group Director Nick Greco adds "over 6 years we have been trying to improve every element of the fan experience at Beyond The Valley and Tixel has been a big part of that. Aside from protecting our fans from scalping, it gives them the confidence to buy tickets early knowing a resale market will open up closer to the event if their plans change".

In 2018 over 20% of Beyond The Valley's tickets were resold via Tixel's standby list. This month the 2019 festival made headlines when it sold out in an hour.

Tixel's Zac Leigh notes "it's an achievement that suggests music fans feel emboldened to buy tickets early, confident that safe resale is an option later down the line.”

Other events using Tixel as their recommended resale partner include Woodford Folk Festival, Rhythm and Vines, The Grass Is Greener, Strawberry Fields, Grapevine Gathering as well as national tours from Crooked Colours, Ziggy Alberts, Methyl Ethel, The Teskey Brothers and Tones and I.

Tixel is a verified fan-to-fan marketplace for tickets and it’s saving music fans from despair around the world. Tixel verifies tickets before they are made available for sale and caps prices so it’s fair for everyone – whether buying or selling. And if fans are selling, their ticket is listed in front of keen fans who are ready to buy. Tixel helps fans buy and sell tickets in just a few clicks, and sign up to specific gigs to get notified as soon as tickets are listed.
