YMCA Epping opens new family fitness facility

The community in the north western Sydney suburb of Epping can now experience the new Family Health and Fitness Centre at YMCA Epping, which has just been completed as part of a $1.1 million redevelopment of the Centre.

YMCA Epping now offers families a place to get fit and spend quality time together. This focus is important given recent Mission Australia research that shows almost three quarters of young people (74.3%) aged 11 to 24 say family is what they value most in life.

It will also see YMCA Epping, which has been a cornerstone of community sport and recreation, and a leading provider of gymnastics in NSW for more than 50 years, transformed into a modern, multi-sport facility and community hub.

YMCA Epping Centre Manager Rod Nadwie-Smith is inviting everyone in the local Epping community to come down and try out the Centre's new state-of-the-art health and fitness facilities for themselves, stating "above all else the Y stands for Family and we are excited to be unveiling stage one of our redevelopment, which has seen the Centre transformed into a family fitness facility."

The new Centre includes cardio equipment, free weights and weight machines, a stretch zone, personal training and outdoor group fitness. Family Memberships will also be available to make working-out as a family simple and affordable.

Nadwie-Smith also acknowledged the generous donations that had been made by local residents, adding "we have received so much support, financially and otherwise, from the local community which the Y is very grateful for. "

The redevelopment, which commenced in December 2011, will also see the creation of new community meeting spaces and upgraded toilets and change rooms. All of this follows the recent revitalisation of the Centre's facade, significantly improving the look and presence of YMCA Epping.
