Sydney to Host Freestyle Football Titles
The new sport of Freestyle Football will celebrate a successful first year by staging the 1st Annual Australian Freestyle Football Titles in Sydney on Saturday 5th December.
Freestyle Football, is the art of juggling a football with various parts of the body, in any position, creating a spectacular visual show.
In announcing the inaugural Australian titles Freestyle Football Australia head Paul Harvey explains "this event will decide which Freestyler has the right to be crowned Australian Champion and all of the glory and career progression that will go with that.
"(Fans) will see some amazing Freestyle on the day and it will show the world just how far Australian Freestyle has come in a year as we already have one of the busiest Freestyle Football Show Teams."
The Titles are open to any Australian Freestyler and entrants are expected from around Australia. Early favorites for the Title will be âBevSâ (Chris Beavon) from Newcastle and Sydneyâs own âInsaneâ Kane Edwards, who are both now full time Freestylers with Australiaâs only Freestyle Football Show Team âTrick Starâ.
However, Harvey expects a few surprises from some of Australiaâs up and coming young stars.
The Format will see the Amateur Freestylers battle it out in two minute battles (two x 30 second comboâs each) against one another with the Top Two then progressing into the Super 8âs Final to meet the six seeded Pro Freestylers in a Head to Head Knockout Format until only two remain.
The Australian Freestyle Football Titles will be staged in conjunction with Sydney FC, who are big supporters of Freestyle Football in Australia, with the Trick Star Show Team performing at every home game. The event will combine with Sydney FC's home game against North Queensland at the Sydney Football Stadium with the Freestyle Titles starting at 5pm followed by the Super 8âs Final at 6pm.
