Plans Unveiled for Cairns Water Park

Plans for a new water park in the city of Cairns have been released. To be named Adventure Waters, the plans are now set to be submitted with the DA application to the Cairns Regional Council, seeking approvals from both the local council and Queensland Government.

Explaining the development, Paul Freebody, Chief Executive of developers the Freebody Group, stated "we have taken our time to get our application to this level and have engaged both local and overseas specialist consultants to ensure all aspects of our application are as good as they can be.

"It has taken my wife and I nearly three years to get to this point and obtain this prize site in the prime location on the tourist strip to the north of Cairns."

Freebody went on to add "Cairns is a unique market, with its extreme climate change (cyclone and wet season) combined with the potential to trade all year round due to hot weather and humidity and the restrictions to use local beaches because of stingers."

As a result, Freebody adds âwe are in a very strong position to have a business with strong future growth (and) we are well placed to take advantage of the current climate of competitive pricing in most aspects of the construction phase.

"The exciting part of having a green field site is we can start from scratch and make use of the the latest ride attractions and systems from around the world that are available in the water park marketplace.

"We are working towards being a fully self dependent water park by having our own on site waste water system which will be used to irrigate the entire site. We will also try and make use of the natural water course running under the site for our water requirements for the attractions."
