World Leisure Day to explore digital horizons

Aiming to reinforce leisure as a social right and its importance in daily life, as well as to expand and promote leisure globally while recognising that barriers still exist for many worldwide, World Leisure Day is to be held on 16th April.

A global initiative from the World Leisure Organization (WLO), the global body advises “World Leisure Day 2024 invites the world to explore the transformative potential of leisure in the digital age.

“On this date, communities across the globe will explore the intersection of leisure and emerging technologies, such as the metaverse, artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality, and the dynamic landscape of virtual leisure practices.”

Embracing Digital Horizons in Leisure Webinar
Organised by the World Leisure Organization in partnership for World Leisure Day 2024 with the World Leisure Centre of Excellence at the University of Sao Paulo (WLCE USP) and the World Leisure Organization Special Interest Group on Leisure Management (LM SIG), an online webinar with the theme ‘Embracing digital horizons in leisure’ will be held from 5 to 7pm (Brazil time) on 16th April.

It will explore the synergy between digital innovations and leisure, imagining new ways to connect, play and relax in the digital age - from virtual reality escapades to AI-enhanced experiences, experts and academics will explore key issues for professionals, students, academics and those curious about the next frontier in digital play and relaxation.
