World Leisure invites submissions for Awards program

The World Leisure Organisation has announced deadlines for its prestigious global awards programs.

Recognised as a consultative organisation with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (UN), the World Leisure Organisation is committed to the belief that well selected leisure experiences improve quality of life for all.

Submission deadlines for fall on 16th November for its four major awards:

New dates for 16th World Leisure Congress
World Leisure and the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality have announced that the 16th World Leisure Congress in Pinggu-Beijing,  which was initially scheduled to take place from 17th to 23rd October this year will be held from 15th to 21st April next year.

World Leisure advised that “along with (the) Pinggu-Beijing (we) will continue to monitor closely this evolving situation and keep you informed with due notice allowing you to prepare the necessary. “Rest assured, WLO and Pinggu-Beijing will maintain its ongoing cooperation to be prepared to welcome all the leisure community to the important biennial event.

“More than ever will be the timely occasion to create new synergies and demonstrate how leisure is a vital component and an integral part to social, cultural, economic and sustainable environmental development to cope with the challenges we are collectively facing.”

The new deadline for abstract submissions, taking into account the rescheduling of the Congress is 30th October 2020.

World Leisure’s Leisure Management Special Interest Group
Dr John Tower, Honorary Research Fellow, Recreation and Sport Management at Victoria University in Melbourne and co-Chair (with Dr Jo An Zimmermann from Texas State University in the USA) of World Leisure’s Leisure Management Special Interest Group (LM SIG) has, over the past week, provided stakeholders with an update on its activities.

Established to share information about leisure management research, practices and publications, the LM SIG has created a database of leisure management researchers and their areas of expertise along with documenting research about how leisure programs, facilities and services are achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
