Warner Bros. Movie World reveals details of new Wizard of Oz-themed rides
Village Roadshow Theme Parks has revealed details of the two family-friendly rides and related thematic elements that will feature in the new Wizard of Oz precinct at Warner Bros. Movie World when it opens later this year.
Inspired by the classic 1939 film, the key attractions in the Gold Coast theme park’s new precinct are the Flight of the Wicked Witch suspended rollercoaster and the Kansas Twister boomerang racer.
Travelling on a 454-metre-long track, Flight of the Wicked Witch will reach a top speed of 67 km/h with a top height of 19 metres while the Kansas Twister will feature two racing tracks of 225 and 220 metres long, a top speed of 58 km/h, and a top height of 22 metres.
Provided a construction update, as well as concept art for the land’s attractions in a new video, the precinct will feature immersive theming, including a recreation of the 1939 film’s Yellow Brick Road.
Replacing the retired Arkham Asylum space, rides will have low height and age restrictions.
Announcing the development in July 2022, Village Roadshow Chief Executive, Clark Kirby stated "this precinct is going to be like nothing we have ever done at Movie World and we are working closely with our partners at Warner Bros. Themed Entertainment to make this one of the most beautifully themed precincts in Australian theme parks.”
Village Roadshow is also on track to 30-metre-high to open the Flash Speed Force rollercoaster - located inside the track of the Superman Escape Coaster - later this year.
