Warner Bros. Movie World achieves record September single day attendance

The launch of its new DC Rivals HyperCoaster has seen Warner Bros. Movie World achieve its strongest single day of attendance ever recorded in September.

The impressive performance at the Gold Coast theme park has been noted in Village Roadshow's latest investor presentation, with the company indicating that while attendance was "marginally down" for the quarter of July to September, the ride's high profile debut at the tail end of the period resulted in a dramatic turnaround.

DC Rivals HyperCoaster opened to the public on 21st September 2017 and results have been outstanding, including a day of all-time record attendance for September at Warner Bros. Movie World.

Village Roadshow Chief Operating Officer and Village Roadshow Theme Parks Chief Executive Clark Kirby Clark Kirby stated to shareholders during the presentation that over 11,500 visitors passed through the gates in a single day during September following the ride's opening - the attraction’s largest ever single day attendance for September.

The company also reported some 9.3 million social media impressions and 6.9 million impressions in PR and media coverage from the ride's opening.

The roller coaster - reported to cost $30 million - is the largest ever investment in a single outdoor theme park rides in Australia.

Launched in a period when theme parks are under unprecedented levels of public and media scrutiny, the early success of DC Rivals HyperCoaster is the best indication yet of a recovery for Village Roadshow in an industry that has struggled to recover from a fatal ride accident at Dreamworld in October last year.
