Fan dies after Allianz Stadium concert fall
A woman who was seriously injured during a concert by Robbie Williams at Sydney's Allianz Stadium last week has died.
The woman, reported as being in her 70s, had been in induced coma after falling down six rows of seating at the close of the concert - attended by around 40,000 - last Thursday evening.
She reportedly tried to walk over the rows of seats rather than take the stairs when she stumbled, fell and collapsed.
A spokesperson from Sydney’s St Vincent’s hospital confirmed the woman died on Monday.
Venues NSW, which operates the stadium, said a staff member and a nearby guest, who is a qualified medical professional, helped immediately after the fall before on-site paramedics arrived.
A spokesman for Venues NSW had said on Friday "this is a terribly sad incident and our thoughts and wishes are with the patron and their family during this time."
A fan at a Taylor Swift’s concert in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro at the weekend died of a suspected cardiac arrest due to extreme temperatures, as a heatwave moved through much of the country.
Swift announced the postponement of her Saturday night concert, saying the safety and wellbeing of her fans, fellow performers and crew came first.
