Vale: Peggy Tunstall, Australian Commonwealth Games Association administrator
The Australian Commonwealth Games Association (ACGA) has issued a statement expressing its sadness at the death of Life Member Peggy Tunstall OAM, who passed away in Sydney last week.
Peggy was a well-known figure to those connected with sport and the Commonwealth Games movement here in Australia.
Alongside her husband Arthur Tunstall OBE JP - who was the Association's Honorary Secretary-Treasurer from 1969-1998 - the pair were the administrative backbone of the ACGA for several decades.
From the early 1960s right up until the late 1990s Peggy gave extensive honorary and paid service to the ACGA, an organisation she was totally committed to.
In 1991, the ACGA bestowed on her the honour of Life Membership in recognition of her effort and dedication.
This dedication was recognised more widely in 1993 when she was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia 'for her services to the Australian Commonwealth Games Association.'
Peggy was a treasured member of the Australian Commonwealth Games family and long term supporter who will be missed by all who knew her.
The ACGA statement concluded "on behalf of the President, Officers, Board of Management, Staff and Members of the Australian Commonwealth Games Association we extend our deepest condolences to Arthur and their son, Robert, at this difficult time."
For those wishing to pay their last respects, Peggy's funeral will be held at 10am on Wednesday 30th January at St John's Anglican Church, 120 Darlinghurst Road, Darlinghurst (Sydney).
