SLE extends backing of NSW Rugby League’s female teams
Insurer SLE has announced the extension of its partnership with the NSW Rugby League to include sponsorship of the Country and City female teams.
The extension will see SLE continue their partnership of the SLE Laurie Daley Cup and SLE Andrew Johns Cup, as well as assuming the front of shorts sponsorship for the Country and City female teams.
The SLE Laurie Daley Cup (Under 18s) and SLE Andrew Johns Cup (Under 16s), named after two of the greatest True Blue players, are the premier Rugby League junior competitions in regional NSW and provide vital pathways for any player seeking professional Rugby League careers.
The annual Country v City representative fixtures returned to the NSWRL calendar in 2021 and were staged last weekend (18th and 19th May) at Leichhardt Oval. The honours were split between the female teams with City winning the Under 17s Girls, while Country triumphed in extra time in the Under 19s Women.
NSWRL Chief Commercial Officer, Jodie Cross commented “SLE has had a long-standing relationship with the NSWRL and they are thoroughly invested in helping to nurture the next generation of Rugby League stars from regional NSW.
“We are thrilled that they have now extended that partnership to also support female Rugby League which continues to be one of the fastest-growing areas for our sport after consistently breaking participation records.”
SLE Chief Executive, Raj Nanra added “with SLE’s association with NSW Rugby League now into its 29th year, we are delighted that the expansion of our partnership extends to supporting the female teams for NSW Country and City, which we believe produce strong, positive role models.
“SLE is confident these players will help drive the further development, growth and the positive environment for female Rugby League which we are proud to be associated with.”
SLE is an Australian-based underwriting agency that targets sectors including sport and entertainment and has been operating in Australia since 1994.
They assumed naming rights for the SLE Laurie Daley Cup and SLE Andrew Johns Cup, which has more than 400 players and 20 teams from both competitions, in 2021.
