Urban Climb opens first Adelaide gym

Leading climbing gym operator Urban Climb has announced the opening of their first location in Adelaide, transforming an old cinema complex on Hindley Street into a state-of-the-art multi-level bouldering gym.

Offering a climbing experience that redefines what indoor bouldering can be, the new facility spans three levels and was designed and built by Urban Climb’s team of passionate climbers with a vision to capture the adventurous spirit of outdoor bouldering in an indoor setting.

Introducing a facility with climbing walls that create an explorative environment that challenges and inspires climbers of all levels, Urban Climb Chief Business Development Officer, David Fletcher

Explained “turning an old cinema into a bouldering gym isn’t an easy feat, but with Urban Climb Adelaide, we’ve gone big, creating what we believe is our most adventurous bouldering gym to date.

“We’ve gone above and beyond to create this truly one-of-a-kind climbing experience, but don’t just take our word for it - come see it for yourself.”

The gym's design includes features that make it stand out in the Australian climbing scene.

A massive prow arete boulder dominates the space, offering climbers a range of challenging technical boulders. The sunken ‘meg’ boulder, capable of housing routes up to 11 meters long, adds another layer of depth to the climbing experience. Additionally, a dedicated training wall caters to both setters and climbers, ensuring that Urban Climb Adelaide is a hub for both training and recreation.

Urban Climb Adelaide’s innovative design and community-focused approach makes it more than just a gym - it’s a landmark destination for climbers and adventure enthusiasts alike.

Urban Climb - which currently operates seven facilities across Australia, with other sites in Brisbane, Melbourne and Townsville - has been at the forefront of the climbing gym industry for 20 years, with a commitment to providing world-class climbing experiences and fostering a strong community of climbers.

It continues to innovate and inspire, offering spaces where everyone - from beginners to seasoned climbers - can push their limits and connect with others who share their passion for adventure.
