Upgraded Noble Park Aquatic Centre waterslide delivers summer fun
The pre Christmas completion of an upgrade to the landmark waterslide at the Noble Park Aquatic Centre by Australian Waterslides & Leisure has enabled patrons to maximise their aquatic fun through the peak summer months.
With the facility’s original 1980s waterslide having reached the end of its serviceable life, Australian Waterslides & Leisure completed the second stage of replacement of waterslide sections and runouts, modifying the existing steel supports to adapt to its slide profile.
Working in a tight timeframe and small budget, Australian Waterslides & Leisure were appointed to the project by the City of Greater Dandenong on 9th September last year, and completed the project, at a cost of $212,300 by the end of November.
Australian Waterslides & Leisure had undertaken the first stage of the project, the replacement of the bottom half of the original slide and adaptation of its runouts in 2012.

Commenting on the complexities of the project, Australian Waterslides & Leisure Managing Director Annette Matthews explains “spatial constraints due to the existing tower cladding proved challenging (so) we used existing support steel and adapted the supports to our slide profile.
“Minimum changes to existing structure as a cost saving exercise and careful consideration not to disrupt the operating of the centre was accomplished.
“The restricted budget was also a challenge to deliver what the Council wanted for a lesser cost, however, we accommodated this and will also introduce a custom designed start section to top of ride in the future for no cost.”

The waterslide has also been equipped with an innovative LED light system designed by Electrolight for Suters Architects.
The Noble Park Aquatic Centre, formerly known as the Noble Park Swim Centre, reopened in February 2012, following a $21 million redevelopment.
