Central Coast sporting facility upgrades promote active lifestyles
Supporting their community’s love for sport and promoting active lifestyles, the Central Coast Council in NSW has completed the construction of new facilities at Bateau Bay’s EDSACC South sportsgrounds while also commencing upgrades to the sporting amenities building at Duffy’s Oval in Terrigal.
Sporting clubs, players and spectators will benefit from the new amenities building at Bateau Bay’s EDSACC South sportsgrounds which replaces the previous facility destroyed by fire in 2015.
The new amenities building has an increased number of toilets (10 in total which includes an accessible and ambulant toilet) and change rooms, two club storage areas, a referee room, and canteen with separate storage.
Construction works have also commenced to upgrade the sporting amenities building at Duffy’s Oval Terrigal to provide the community with a modern facility with improved safety and functionality.
This upgraded infrastructure will benefit both local and visiting users of this popular sportsground, including Terrigal United Football Club and Terrigal Little Athletics Club and support the community’s love for sport.
The redeveloped building design includes male and female toilets, change room and showers, accessible toilet and shower, canteen and a club function room.
This upgraded facility is a key objective of Council’s Community Strategic Plan which reflects their community’s vision for a liveable coast by ensuring sporting, leisure and open space areas are well maintained and activated.
The project has been jointly funded by Central Coast Council and the NSW Government with a $250,000 grant from the Stronger Communities Fund.
Mayor Lisa Matthews said these upgrade works to the sporting amenities building at Duffy’s Oval Terrigal will provide the community with a modern facility with improved safety and functionality.
“We are thankful for the NSW Government’s funding contribution to enable this much needed facility upgrade that will benefit both local and visiting users of this popular sportsground”.
These two projects are examples of the many infrastructure upgrades Council is delivering across the Coast to support their community’s love for sport and to promote active lifestyles.
