New concert venue planed as part of NSW Central Coast entertainment and cultural precinct
Plans for a multi-million-dollar entertainment and cultural precinct with an event space are currently being considered by the Lake Macquarie City Council.
Winarch Capital’s $235 million development at Morisset Country Club, which will be known as at Cedar Mill, includes a new concert venue, a petting zoo, restaurants and cafes, tourism accommodation and what is claimed will be Australia’s largest aquatic play area.
Cedar Mill’s 28 hectare cultural, arts and events space includes a 30,000 capacity outdoor concert venue, with trees to provide shade for concert and festival goers.
Winarch Capital Managing Director Paul Lambess told Sydney newspaper told The Daily Telegraph aid they think it “could be fantastic for the area and region”, adding that music industry leaders “have given it the thumbs up” for the plan.
Lambess added “we’re creating a site that can attract, national A grade artists (and) promoters, event organisers, site managers have all be on site and been extremely enthusiastic, so there’s very strong interest.”
The developer is hoping to get approvals by the year’s end and be up and running by September 2020.
Lake Macquarie Mayor Kay Fraser said the Cedar Mill development was “very exciting for Morisset and Lake Macquarie”, adding “the plans for Cedar Mill are very ambitious and it is wonderful to see such a vision that will translate into more things to do locally, more jobs for the area and a massive ongoing injection into our local economy.”
