Autism Central Coast launch football skills program

Tuggerah-based charity Autism Central Coast are to launch ‘Spectrum Soccer’, a football skills and fun program for those who want to play the game but often don’t get the opportunity to experience it in a casual learning environment.

With the support of facility operator Soccer 5s and the A-League’s Central Coast Mariners, the charity is will commence offering the free program from Wednesday 4th March 4 at the Soccer 5s facility in Tuggerah.

The program is the brainchild of Autism Central Coast’s Program Co-ordinator Jayden Robins, who saw the need for more healthy activity for clients, while remembering the successful soccer carnival the organisation staged a few years back.

Looking to link up more with the football world, he explains “it's like anything in life.

“If you enjoy it, you should be able to do it, and Soccer 5s agreed with us and offered the facility”

Robins is the youngest member of the ACC management team, and his enthusiasm has spawned this and other exciting opportunities.

“We are also talking to the Mariners about a sensory room at the stadium on match days. It’s a great chance for our clients to enjoy football in a more comfortable environment, and to educate the greater public about the needs of those living on the spectrum.”

Those interested in participating, should phone Autism Central Coast on 0410 918 100.
